Charles M. Cahn., Jr., Member Charlie was born in Baltimore, Maryland on May 9, 1921. He was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1950 after serving as an officer in the U.S. Army in World War II and the Korean War. Prior to his military service in World War II Charlie graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College and prior to serving in the Korean War he graduated from Harvard Law School cum laude. At Dartmouth College, Charlie was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in his junior year. He is admitted to practice in all courts of Maryland, before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and before the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a member of the Bar Association of Baltimore City, the Maryland State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is a member of the Estates and Trusts Section of the Maryland State Bar Association and was for many years a member of the Estates and Trust Section Council of the Maryland State Bar Association. He is also a member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Charlie specializes in estate planning and estate and trust administration. He has also worked extensively in federal estate, gift and income taxation. His clients include professionals and their practices, owners of family controlled businesses and those business entities, as well as other individuals and families. For clients of substantial wealth, Charlie has established federal estate and gift tax saving devices including charitable foundations. He has assisted clients in selecting and reviewing the performances of investment counsel and frequently serves as trustee or in other fiduciary capacities for his clients. He works closely with banks and other trust companies, investment advisors, insurance agents, realtors and accountants. For many years Charlie has been involved in many charitable and civic organizations, and he currently is an officer and board member of a number of foundations. He has been an officer and director of his Temple, and of numerous constituent agencies of The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore, and United Way of Central Maryland, as well as other charitable enterprises.
