Alex graduated from the
After graduating from law school, Alex commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy's Judge Advocate General's Corps. For two years, he served as a military prosecutor handling a variety of crimes committed by active duty military members. During the subsequent two years, he served as a Staff Judge Advocate (in-house counsel) for a major naval base in Virginia and Regional Public Safety Mid-Atlantic, the Navy's largest police and security organization.
His practice involved investigating cases involving military and civilian police officers accused of excessive use of force, violations of constitutional rights, failure to follow protocol and procedures, unlawful arrest, and unlawful use of force and deadly force. He also investigated numerous Federal Tort Claims Act actions filed against the Navy involving vehicular accidents, injuries sustained on federal property and/or caused by federal personnel, and others.
In January 2005, Alex was selected to serve as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, Norfolk Division, where he was responsible for prosecution in the Federal District Court of primarily white-collar offenses. Working closely with the Special Agents of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), he developed an expertise in prosecution of false claims, bank frauds, mail frauds, and larcenies. He handled several Federal 4th Circuit appeals.
At Blades & Rosenfeld, P.A., his practice focuses on civil business litigation involving all aspects of contracts, tort liabilities, and employment issues. He is also active in white-collar defense matters.
